TED embraces a variety of initiatives including the TEDx program. The TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences in communities around the world. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently
TEDxUniversityofMacedonia is a non-profit initiative of 12 young people, aspiring to develop a community inside the University to cooperate and interact together. Through ideas worth spreading our aspect is to inspire and motivate young people to promote innovative ideas which we strongly believe that, have the power to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world! .TEDxUniversityofMacedonia started a year ago when a young student dared to take the initiative to organize the first TEDx University event in Northern Greece. Since then, the TEDxUniversityofMacedonia has managed to spread its ideas to the world. Our purpose is to develop an open platform where young people can share ideas, interact, innovate, discuss and change the society in a positive way. We believe in youth spirit as the driving force of change in our world.
The main theme of TEDxUniversityofMacedonia 2014 is Ithacas. Inspired by Ithaca by C.P. Cavafis we call our generation to wonder about their own Ithacas. Our journey starts from the first time that we face the world. We explore the universe that spreads around us. We connect with people that we meet. We try to innovate and make the difference. We believe in a better world. We aim to set a goal and to achieve it. Our goal is our destination. Every new goal is the beginning of a journey. This year TEDxUniversityofMacedonia shares the ideas that make our speakers to set out for their own journey and calls its audience to explore their own Ithacas. In your journey you might face obstacles or you might create some on your own. You might encounter the Sirens or not, you might lose your beloved friends or not. But during this travel you obtain invaluable knowledge and experience while at the same time you meet with new people. By the end of this journey, you feel wiser and you understand that Ithacas were the trigger for you to start this adventurous journey.
